Many things make Monroe Community College unique; our locations, the breadth of our curriculum and co-curricular programs and your commitment to student engagement. There is one aspect, however, that makes MCC truly exceptional and that is our extraordinary commitment to give our students real world experiences that prepare them for success after graduating. Leadership, globalization of economic, political, social and cultural activity have created new opportunities and challenges for tomorrow’s leaders. MCC’s Model United Nation’s program (one of our flagship programs) has made and continues to make Monroe Community College unique.
This past week, 13 of our very best students participated in the National Model United Nations Collegiate Conference in New York City, along with 5,000 students from 125 universities and colleges from all over the world. Representing the country of Paraguay, we are proud to say that our team won the award of “Honorable Mention” for 2015. Since its inception in 2006, the MCC Model UN Team has won the Outstanding Delegation Award, the Distinguished Delegation Award (twice), and the Honorable Mention Award (three times).
We are very proud of our students and we wish them the best. If you happen to have one of them in your class, know them personally or would just like to say congratulations, please take the time to do so.
On the behalf of the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development, I would like to thank a few people who supported, encouraged and remained believers in this program. A special thank you to professors Lou Andolino, Louis Silvers, and Donald Beech. Also a special thank you to MCC Association Inc., and the MCC Library staff.
