New Brown Bag Lunch Sessions for December

Educational Technology Services invites MCC Faculty, Staff and Administration to the following Brown Bag Lunch Sessions in December.

Sessions take place during COLLEGE HOUR (12-1pm) in ROOM 11-109 unless otherwise noted. These sessions discuss a variety of technology topics. No registration is required – just show up!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 2
OUTLOOK TIPS AND TRICKS
A few of the items covered in this session will be: how to configure Outlook to combat the ever increasing problem of SPAM, how to manage and organize the content of one’s mailbox, and how to stay within the size limitations prescribed by our servers. We will also discuss Public Folder usage, how best to control “Spyware”, and other Outlook related subjects as time allows. Facilitated by James Colley, ETS Communications and Network Services.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4
USING 3D AND VIRTUAL REALITY IN YOUR COURSES
Being able to show objects to students in a 3-dimensional view, and letting them interact with these objects in real time are great ways to engage those students with “visual” and “active” learning styles. Plus, students in your classes will perk up and say, “Wow! That’s neat!!!” We’ll look at some resources for developing your own 3-D and virtual reality applications right here at MCC. We’ll talk about possibilities for what can be done with these new technologies, and what it takes to develop the various types of these applications. Facilitated by Jeremy Case, ETS Instructional Technologies.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 9
LET’S TALK: MANAGING COMPUTERS AND TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP EFFECTIVELY
Managing personal computer total cost of ownership across the enterprise is a challenging task facing all colleges. To do so effectively, a whole spectrum of factors such as procurement, standards, infrastructure, deployment, support, and reporting must be integrated into a college wide computer management plan. The presenters facilitate an interactive session to discuss the challenges and to share Monroe Community College’s solutions. Facilitated by Terry Keys, Dale Mallory and Brett Thompson, ETS.
