Brennan-Barry Invited Speaker at College Media Conference

Colleen Brennan-Barry, assistant director of marketing and community relations - Web communications, recently returned from presenting at the Council of Independent Colleges 2013 College Media Conference in Washington, DC. Along with Mark Owczarski, assistant vice president of news and information at Virginia Tech, Colleen was invited to co-present a session entitled “Designing and Implementing Effective Crisis Communications.” Their well-received presentation, shared with a capacity crowd, focused on tactics and lessons learned in working with social media and other digital channels in crisis situations.

The College Media Conference, organized by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), helps campus communications professionals share best standards and practices that produce results, and also make contact with some of the nation’s top reporters, editors, educational correspondents, and campus news professionals.
