Another action-packed sports weekend scheduled at MCC

It will be an exciting weekend of athletics at Monroe Community College.  The men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's basketball teams will all be in action at home.

The men's and women's soccer teams host district championships as they play for spots in national tournaments.  The men's Northeast District tournament will kick off Saturday, as No. 9 MCC plays No. 13 Massasoit CC at 10 a.m.  That will be followed by a game between No. 12 Bryant & Stratton and No. 10 Mercer County CC at 1 p.m.

The winners of those games will play Sunday at 11 a.m. for the right to go to the NJCAA Division I national tournament in Tyler, Texas Nov. 16-19.

The women's District G soccer tournament will start at 12 p.m. Friday, as County College of Morris takes on Community College of Rhode Island.  The winner will play No. 1 MCC at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the title game.  The district champion will advance to nationals in Albany, GA Nov. 16-19.

As always, if you are on campus, log onto the WMCC website (go to A-Z index, click W, and scroll down to WMCC Radio), click on "listen online 24/7" and enjoy the action.

The women's basketball team will start its season on Saturday with a rare doubleheader.  MCC will take on CC of Philadelphia at 11 a.m. and then will turn around and battle Notre Dame Prep at 1:15 p.m.  the two visiting teams will play each other Friday night at 8 p.m.
