A Pat on the Back for Bolton, Snow

I want to share with you a wonderful experience I had with the faculty/staff of the Applied Technologies Center.  The Photography area of the Visual and Performing Arts Department recently made a large purchase of equipment.  Unfortunately several small accessory parts from this order were incorrectly sized and correctly sized parts were no longer in production.  If students were to fully utilize the capabilities of the new equipment, we needed help.

Despite the craziness that often accompanies the end of the fall semester, instructor Patrick Bolton and technical assistant Darwin Snow, both in the Tooling and Machining program, responded to our call for assistance.  Patrick was instrumental in coordinating the project; ensuring our needs and equipment specifications were well documented before allowing the work to proceed.  Darwin skillfully completed the retro-fit with extreme precision and speed allowing students to access the reworked equipment this semester.

Patrick and Darwin are great assets to the college, and their willingness to take on this project has created a wonderful spirit of community.  On behalf of our students, I want to thank Patrick, Darwin, and the entire ATC for their help and wonderful work.

Left photo: Patrick Bolton, left, and Darwin Snow extended learning opportunities for students by allowing them to print larger format negatives. The photo equipment is in the background.

Right photo: Their work allowed the photography area to utilize $7,000 worth of enlarging lenses, which would have been wasted otherwise.
