STEMtech 2011 – Call for Proposals


The League for Innovation in the Community College is now accepting proposals to present at the second annual STEMtech Conference to be held on October 2-5, 2011, at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Educators, industry leaders, and others will gather to discuss increasing student success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and careers, and to explore the strategic use of information technology to better serve their students, campuses, and communities.

It is important to note that all proposals must be submitted to your divisional vice president for approval prior to submission to the League.  Please submit your proposal to your vice president by Friday, April 8, 2011.

Proposals are being sought for concurrent sessions, roundtable discussions, and poster sessions for the following conference tracks:

STEM Tracks:

- Health and Science:  innovations in health and science disciplines, and related workforce development and career pathways.

- Energy, Environment, and Sustainability:  innovations in energy, environment, sustainability and green disciplines, and related workforce training and career pathways, as well as institutional efforts toward energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, and environmental sustainability.

- Mathematics, Engineering, and Architecture:  innovations in mathematics, engineering, architecture, and related workforce development and career pathways.

- Manufacturing, Industry, and Agriculture:  innovations in manufacturing, industry, agriculture, and related workforce development and career pathways.

- Technology, Multimedia, and Telecommunication:  innovations in technology, multimedia, telecommunication disciplines, and related workforce development and career pathways.

- Recruiting, Retaining, and Transitioning Students into STEM Programs:  innovative strategies for encouraging students into STEM programs and on to four-year programs or STEM-related careers.

Tech Tracks:

- Technology Systems and Applications:  effective and innovative means for developing, funding, staffing, implementing, securing, and evaluating technology infrastructures.

- E-Learning Resources:  effective and innovative uses of technology to provide instruction, instructional resources, library resources, student services, and professional development resources and activities.
