Graduates of MCC Course Receive Media Coverage

YNN Rochester covered the graduation of about 30 Monroe County peace officers and recruits, who became the first class to complete training under new state requirements on Saturday, March 17.

Peace officers are volunteers trained to assist police agencies with traffic and crowd control during emergencies and public events as well as provide security at courts and malls. The newest class completed a total of about 140 hours of training at the Public Safety Training Facility.

Last year, the state increased the minimum hours of instruction and training to 99 from 26. MCC, which has offered the course for many years, worked with Webster Special Police Chief Joseph Monachino (an MCC alumnus) and Greece Special Police Chief Michael DiCataldo to further strengthen the curriculum, resulting in an additional 40 hours of training.

YNN interviewed Russ Coriddi, MCC program coordinator at PSTF, and new graduate Jason Hartman.
