Be A Leader. Make Connections. Become A Service-Learning Assistant For The Fall 2007 Semester!

Now Recruiting For The Fall 2007 Semester

Service-Learning Assistants!

Hey Students - did you know that a Service-Learning Assistant helps coordinate the efforts associated with a service-learning project by operating as the link between the service-learning classroom, the Office of Service-Learning, and our community partner? This is accomplished when a Service-Learning Assistant collects necessary paperwork from students, maintains regular contact with the community partner(s), and distributes information as needed.

Also, from this position students gain leadership skills, obtain experience to put on their resume or transfer college application, develop resources for letters of recommendations, network with faculty, community agencies, and fellow students! Service-Learning Assistants also receive a Service Activity Award at the end of the academic year, and receive compensation for the commitment of their time. (This stipend is in addition to any other compensation they may be receiving, i.e. financial aid or federal work study.)

Hey Faculty – did you know that you can pass this information on to a student that you think would make a great Service-Learning Assistant? Simply tell students to complete and submit an application.  Students don’t need to be enrolled in a Service-Learning course.  Applications and position descriptions can be obtained at the Office of Service-Learning, Damon City Campus-5th floor, by calling the Office at 585-262-1713, or by accessing the Service-Learning website at <<https://www.monroecc.edu/service-learning-go>>.  Completed applications will be reviewed and applicants interviewed.  All applicants will be notified once the SLA selection is completed and placement decisions have been made.
