Stop the Violence

The Peer Mentors at the Brighton Campus, who are part of the Peer Assistance Resource Center, have started a new program called S.A.V.I.O.R.S. (Students Against Violence in Our Rochester Streets).  Their main objective is to educate individuals on the rising violence in the Rochester area.  Students, staff and faculty all over campus have been proudly wearing the S.A.V.I.O.R.S. pins or t-shirts to help support and publicize this great program.

Joe Bovenzi and Joe McGee, the peer mentors who are heading it up, have a proposal in to the city school district to be able to go into some of the local city schools as part of an after school program to help educate middle and high school students about how they can stop the violence in their own communities.  As part of Anti-Violence week, the S.A.V.I.O.R.S. program and the Peer Assistance Resource Center are sponsoring a two-day seminar at Monroe Community College addressing the issue of violence in the Rochester area.
