One of the nation’s leading authorities on noncognitive assessment will challenge MCC faculty and staff to employ “noncognitive variables in the retention of students of color” – this Friday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 4151, Damon City Campus.
Find out how from William E. Sedlacek, Ph.D., a senior author of “Racism in American Education: A Model for Change” and “The Situational Attitude Scale.” His most recent book, “Beyond the Big Test: Noncognitive Assessment in Higher Education,” has received much acclaim.
Dr. Sedlacek is a Professor of Education and Assistant Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned his doctorate from Kansas State University and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Iowa State University.
Among his many awards and achievements, he received the Contribution to Knowledge Award from the American College Personnel Association in 2004 for outstanding contributions to the profession’s body of knowledge through publications, films, speeches, instructions, tapes, and other forms of communication.
