292-BABY Launches Innovative Call-In Show

292-BABY has launched a pilot series of live, call-in television shows focusing on breastfeeding for May, June and July. Produced in conjunction with Rochester General Hospital, these shows provide support for nursing parents as well as raise awareness as to the importance of breastfeeding. The shows are broadcast live from MCC’s Damon City Campus at 8 pm on Mondays over Time Warner Cable Channel 4. Select shows will be available through Time Warner’s Rochester on Demand service (Cable Channel 111).

292-BABY is a community collaborative administered by Monroe Community College. Through phone, TV and the Internet, 292-BABY programs help parents and caregivers nurture children, ages 0 – 3.

VaPA’s Jim Coffey, who also leads 292-BABY, is promoting the new program through birthing and breastfeeding classes at Rochester General Hospital. Coffey’s vision is for the birthing class participants/parents to stay connected through 292-BABY to form a supportive, learning community. The Warner Graduate School of Human Development representatives are on board to assess the project.
