GeoFest-RACSS Fall Conference - BIG Success!

On Saturday October 22nd, MCC hosted its second GeoFest Conference. This year it was sponsored by the New York Geographic Alliance (home office here at MCC), the Chemistry/ Geosciences Department, and the Rochester Area Council for the Social Studies. Over 150 teachers, college instructors, and college students attended.

The conference was opened by a welcoming speech by MCC President Anne Kress. It was followed by three workshop sessions on a variety of topics (geography, environmental science, history, government, and interdisciplinary units). Several workshops were led by Monroe Community College professors. In the afternoon, there was an optional field trip to downtown Rochester and a neighborhood walk in the South Wedge.

Nearly all the participants were impressed by the quality of the presentations. They also enjoyed the facilities here at MCC. It was a great way to be part of our college’s 50th anniversary.
