YNN Video Sums Up Students' Special Culinary Experience

A group of MCC’s culinary arts students had an opportunity to cook with award-winning Chef Bruno Wehren on Thursday, Sept. 26, on the Brighton Campus. They prepared macaroni and cheese, gluten-free penne pasta marinara, and three different pasta salads.

The dishes were then offered to the college community to sample during a cooking demonstration outside Reflections restaurant. Later in the afternoon, Chef Wehren gave a talk to students about careers and trends in the hospitality industry.

YNN Rochester was there to capture the culinary arts students’ experience in the kitchen:

Chef Wehren, now a consultant, has cooked or catered for a number of dignitaries over the years, including Presidents Nixon and Carter, presidents of Zambia and Kenya, and a few sheiks. He has also cooked for many celebrities, including Shirley MacLaine, Tom Jones, Liberace, Kirk Douglas, Barbra Streisand, and Sophia Loren.

Chef Wehren is passionate about sharing his vast knowledge and culinary talents with younger generations, and in turn MCC students had a chance to learn from a world-renowned professional. His visit was co-sponsored by MCC’s student-led Hospitality Club.

Many thanks to Drew Lawrence and Diane Cheasty for sharing news about these special learning opportunities.
