DEC Individual Artist Project Grant Awarded to Mary P. Nolan, Ballet Artist

The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester has awarded Mary P. Nolan a 2012 Decentralization Individual Artist Project Grant, provided by the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester through support received from the New York State Legislature and the New York State Council on the Arts.

Mary Nolan is the Secretary to the Dean of Students at Damon City Campus and teaches ballet in her spare time at local dance studios, the Irondequoit Community Education Program and even an intramural ballet class at Damon City Campus.

The grant project title is the Community Youth Ballet Project (CYBP), which will benefit between 20-40 youths under the age of 18 in our community.  A new, innovative contemporary ballet will be choreographed by Mary, who is the former Artistic Director of Dance Rochester!, with youths in the community.  The project, from concept to performance, will involve the aid of youths in the community, their families, friends and other partnerships throughout the community.  The proposed subject matter of the ballet is anti-bullying.

Join us in congratulating Mary and wishing her great success with the Community Youth Ballet Project.
