AmeriCorps Staff Certified as Peer Reviewers

Marilyn Rosche, Rochester AmeriCorps Director, and David Monroe, Program Advisor, have been certified as Peer Reviewers for the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Both completed reviewer training during the 2005 National Conference on Volunteering and Service held in Washington, D.C. in August. The Corporation uses external professionals as reviewers to read competitive applications, provide an analysis of the quality of each application, and rate them based on published criteria. The Corporation in turn considers these peer reviewer comments and ratings in determining which program applications to fund. Reviewers must have expertise in one or more areas of civic engagement.  By participating in one of the Corporation’s grant competitions, reviewers are exposed to new and innovative ideas in the field and engage in the grant-making process for a major funder of the service and volunteer sector while meeting and networking with other experts in the field.
