Bruce Jacobs to give McMurry Lecture


Bruce Jacobs, author of "RACE MANNERS FOR THE 21st CENTURY: Navigating the minefield between black and white Americans in an age of fear," will give the 28th annual McMurry Lecture on October 20, 2008 at noon in 5-300.

The lecture, “A RACE NOBODY WINS: The Price We Pay for Bigotry in Our Electoral Politics,” is sponsored by the McMurry Lecture Fund, SEGA at the Damon City Campus, Writing Center,  Division of Liberal Arts Division, English and Philosophy Department, and Anthropology and Sociology disciplines.

In addition Bruce will be visiting with selected sections of MCC students on the Brighton and Damon campuses.

Bruce, a Harvard graduate, has been on NPR, Pacifica, C-SPAN, and scores of radio and television talk shows. He was a featured presenter at the 2008 national Race and Reconciliation conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. He appears at universities, organizations, and community gatherings nationwide and is the author of a book of poems, SPEAKING THROUGH MY SKIN, published by MSU Press.
