Next Saturday, May 12, the Monroe Community College Foundation will host its ninth annual Gold Star Gala featuring Las Vegas Sommelier and MCC alumna, Sarah Pamatat, at Locust Hill Country Club. It’s not too late to reserve your tickets to what promises to be an unforgettable event!
The gala, with proceeds to benefit student scholarships and other programs at MCC, will highlight Pamatat’s talents as sommelier at Las Vegas’ Bellagio Hotel and her former work with Chef Wolfgang Puck at the Postrio Restaurant at the Venetian Hotel.
“We are fortunate to have Sarah be a part of this year’s gala to share her extensive knowledge of sake with our guests,” said Brenda Babitz, president of the MCC Foundation. “As a former student, Sarah values the education that MCC provides its students and the importance of supporting student scholarships and innovative programs.”
Additionally, Wendell Castle, an internationally renowned furniture artist, whose work can been seen locally at the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, will donate some of his work to the gala’s live auction. He will also be in attendance to discuss his work. Castle taught at Rochester Institute of Technology, School of American Craftsmen in Rochester and opened the Wendell Castle School in Scottsville in 1980.
The evening will also feature Tony Gullace, chef and owner of Max Restaurants, as he prepares an array of Asian-inspired appetizers, and a five-course dinner with select wine pairings created by Jason Walker, chef at Locust Hill Country Club.
