College Community and Volunteers Make Alumni Week and Homecoming a Success!

The MCC Foundation thanks the members of the Alumni Week and Homecoming 2016 Planning Committee for their outstanding effort to reconnect alumni, students and friends to MCC.  Together, we held a variety of very successful Homecoming events, raising $36,150 in support of student scholarships at MCC.  We are proud of all our partners within the college community that made it possible.

Our Homecoming Luncheon and Golf Classic honoring Joseph McCauley, held at Eagle Vale Golf Club, raised $3,845 in support of the Student Leader Scholarship Fund.

At the Damon City Campus, the Student Events and Governance Association hosted a Homecoming celebration. At the Brighton Campus, the Campus Activities Board hosted an outdoor Fall Festival for students.

Homecoming weekend began with Spirit Day and the annual Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game hosted by the Athletics department with music provided by WMCC The Pulse.  The Sports Hall of Fame dinner followed later that evening.

The 10th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships raised a record-breaking $28,252.  Over 650 MCC faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers and community members participated in the 5K!  Scholarships totaling $5,000 were awarded to six current MCC students.  Medals were presented to our 5K top finishers and award winners.   Race results can be found at https://www.pcr-timing.com/2016.html#mcc.  Photos from the day can be found here https://www.facebook.com/events/485086305017620/.

The 5K Walk/Run was followed by MCC Tribunes games—both the men’s and women’s soccer teams outplayed their opponents—and a Tailgate Party sponsored by Sodexo, the MCC Association and GEICO.

The day ended with an alumni art exhibit and lecture in the Mercer Gallery featuring works by Carmelo Ortiz and Victor Zarate.

Our Homecoming celebration concluded with two new events, Glassworking classes at the Arc + Flame Center of Rochester owned by MCC alumnus and Foundation Director Michael Krupnicki ’85 and a Brunch and Cooking Demonstration held at Simply Crepes in Canandaigua owned by MCC Alumni Pierre ’78, Karen ’81 and Nicole Heroux which resulted in $2,618 raised in support of students at MCC.
