Open Source Intelligence and Social Media Conference - May 30th


On Friday, May 30th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the Homeland Security Management Institute (HSMI) of Monroe Community College will be hosting an “Open Source Intelligence and Social Media” conference at the Public Safety Training Facility, 1190 Scottsville Road. This seminar is designed to take the attendee into the world of social media using an abundance of social media resources that are widely used but under-considered, as sources of information. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops to use during the conference.

Michael Gordon is the CEO and fFounder of
Dataveillance. Founded in 2012, Dataveillance is a social media and open source intelligence research company that provides training to law enforcement, the private sector legal community, and the corporate security and IT divisions of corporations in conducting cyber social media investigations and reconnaissance. Michael has over 28 years of professional police experience which began while serving in the United States Marine Corps. During his career he has worked as a patrol officer, traffic investigator, recruiter, training officer, narcotics detective and intelligence analyst.

While the conference registration fee is $99.00 HSMI Director, John J. Perrone, Jr. is offering up to 20 scholarships for Monroe Community College staff, faculty and students.
