Curb Your Car Week Oct 4-10, 2009

What:  Curb Your Car Week, Oct 4-10, 2009 (coincides with National Walk to School Day, Oct 7)

Who:  ColorBrightonGreen.org: mailto:info@ColorBrightonGreen.org

Where:  Brighton or wherever you live

What:  Find one or more trips to “curb” your car home that week: to school, work, piano lessons, grocery store, or anywhere. Try to bike, walk, bus, carpool, telecommute, or just combine trips.

When:  Sunday October 4 through Saturday October 10

Register online now at <"https://www.colorbrightongreen.org/"> and then report by e-mail your miles saved after October 10.

Why:  ColorBrightonGreen.org will calculate total miles, gallons of gas, and pounds of CO2 saved, and announce the grand total.

Prizes will be awarded to high mileage savers, and randomly to participants.

Prizes may include environmental books for children and adults, home energy audits, energy saving small appliances such as lighting, donated by area businesses.

Last year, 380 participants save 7400 miles, 313 gallons of gas, and 5900 pounds of CO2!

All Brighton public and private schools, U of R, Highland Hospital, and many other schools and employers are participating by reporting their families' miles saved and their school or employer name online, to see how much we can save altogether.  Join with your school, employer, or just on your own to be counted in the savings!
