Rochester History through its Neighborhoods Lecture Tomorrow


The Le Roy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus) will host a lecture tomorrow, Wednesday, November 18, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Cynthia Howk, of the Landmark Society of Western New York, will speak on “Rochester History through its Neighborhoods.” The lecture will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.

Cynthia Howk is the Architectural Research Coordinator on the professional staff of The Landmark Society of Western New York.  Established in 1937, the Landmark Society is one of the oldest preservation advocacy organizations in the United States and serves a nine-county region. A native of Rochester, Ms. Howk is a graduate of Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and joined the Society staff in 1976.  She works with individuals, organizations and municipalities throughout the region, advising on issues concerning local planning, building rehabilitation, and economic development.  In addition to her preservation outreach activities, she also lectures widely on regional history and architecture.
