Workshop reminder

There is still time to RSVP to attend a workshop facilitated by brain researcher Janet Zadina, who is by all accounts a dynamic presenter. She will give the workshop from 9 a.m. to noon on June 12 in Monroe A & B. The workshop, suitable for faculty in all departments, is titled “Using Brain Research to Enhance and Energize Instruction” and will give faculty a foundation in research and theory on language learning in the brain. Participants will engage in activities that illustrate the principles and how they can be applied in the classroom. Zadina practices what she preaches, and the workshop promises to be lively. Sign-in and a light breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. All faculty, including adjuncts, and staff are invited.

RSVP to Karen Coffey, <<mailto:kcoffey@monroecc.edu>>, or to Gene Marino, <<mailto:emarino@monroecc.edu>> by June 3. The first 100 people to RSVP will receive a free copy of Zadina’s workbook Six Weeks to a Brain-Compatible Classroom.

Sponsors are the Campus-Wide Reading Committee, co-chaired by Deans Michael McDonough, Carol Adams, and Frank Rinehart; the Teaching & Creativity Center, and Janet Glocker, vice president for academic services.
