Health Information Technology Program hosts Community Professional Development

The Faculty of the Health Information Technology Program hosted a Professional Development event for the Rochester Regional Health Information Management Association here at MCC on September 15th.

The keynote presentation entitled “Transitioning to an Electronic Medical Record – HIM’s Role and Responsibility” was given by Donna Barnard, Director of Health Information Management, University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals.

The sponsorship of the event serves as recognition to local health information professionals for their countless volunteer hours to accept and mentor our HIT students in their professional settings.  The event was also seen as an important health information community showcase.  Attendance nearly doubled that originally anticipated.  Feedback received was such that, attendees enjoy attending sessions at MCC and were eager to learn more about the timely educational content.
