In 1987, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation establishing the third week in November as Geography Awareness Week. Almost twenty years later, geographers continue to promote the importance of geographic literacy throughout the United States and Canada. This year, MCC’s Geosciences Department celebrates Geography Awareness Week (Nov. 12-16) with an online quiz that challenges participants in physical geography, human geography, and geographic techniques.
