Your mailbox is over its size limit


Have you received this Outlook message in your Inbox, which comes from
the System Administrator?


Your mailbox has exceeded one or more size limits set by your
administrator.
Your mailbox size is 108573 KB.

Your Outlook account at MCC is provided with 100 MB of disk space.
You will receive a warning when your mailbox reaches 80000 KB.

If you ignore this message, you may not be able to send or receive new
mail until you reduce your mailbox size.

Here are the steps to take to resolve this situation.

1. Empty the Deleted Items
(Right click on the Deleted Items folder and select Empty "Deleted
Items" folder)

2. Delete old/unwanted messages from your "Sent Items" folder.

3. Delete old/unwanted messages from your "Inbox".

4. Delete old/unwanted messages from any folders you have created.

5. Empty the "Deleted Items" folder again.

6. Display the Folder List, click the yellow folder icon in the bottom
left corner of the Outlook window. On the Folder List displayed, click
the "Folder Sizes" link. Now view the amount of the Total Size
(including subfolders): This is the size of your Outlook account.

Other things you can do to free up disk space:


Basic information about disk space usage.

B is a byte = 1 character

KB is a Kilobyte = (1 thousand) 1,000 characters/bytes

MB is a Megabyte = (1 million) 1,000,000 characters/bytes

GB is a Gigabyte = (1 billion) 1,000,000,000 characters/bytes


To locate the size of e-mail messages:
Within the Inbox, point to the column header SIZE at the top of the
e-mail list.
Click the SIZE header
This will sort your Inbox in order by their size.
Scroll to the top of the list of messages and you will see the smallest
messages.
Click the SIZE header again
This will sort your Inbox in reverse order by their size.
Scroll to the top of the list of messages and you will see the largest
messages.
These are the messages that have attachments using the most amount of
disk space.

The quickest way to free up disk space is to DELETE these messages OR
RESAVE the attachment to your hard drive, and then delete the message.

To extract the attachment from an e-mail message:
1. Open the message containing the attachment.
2. Right click on the attachment name, and select Save-As

3. Indicate the new location to save this attachment (hard drive).
4. Once the attachment has been saved, delete the e-mail message.

Once you have delete a few large e-mail messages with attachments, be
sure to empty the "Deleted Items" folder again. Now recheck your disk
space used.
