Save the Date: Guswenta: Renewing the Two Row Wampum


On Friday October 24th, the Native American Initiative Program would like to invite you to attend Guswenta: Renewing the Two Row Wampum.  Andy Mager Project Coordinator, will do a presentation about how the Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign partnered with the Onondaga Nation and Neighbors to develop a major statewide educational campaign to Commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the first Treaty between the Haudenosaunee and European settlers. A 33-minute film will be shown featuring footage of the 28-day paddling journey from the Onondaga Nation to the United Nations in New York City during the summer of 2013.  Onondaga Faithkeeper Oren Lyons, Onondaga Clanmother Freida Jacques, Mohowk Spiritual Leader Tom Porter and Tadodaho Sid Hill who are Haudenosaunee leaders share Powerful words about this Commemoration in the film.  The event will start at 6:30 in the Flynn Campus Center Forum (3-130).  Refreshments will be served.
