History Film Series

The History Film Series begins tonight. The topic for this semester will be the Vietnam War, seen through the films of Director Oliver Stone. Stone was a Vietnam veteran who became a 3-time Oscar wining Screenwriter/Director. Tonight’s film will be Platoon. This 1986 film looks at the war through the eyes of a soldier who has just arrived at the front, played by Charlie Sheen. (This film is before Sheen went crazy in real life!) Willem Defoe and Tom Berenger play the two Sergeants that show him the good and evil found in people during wartime.

The film begins at 6:00 in room 12-229.

Professor of History, Mark Sample, will introduce the film.
