Faculty, Staff and Students: Service Day - May 12 Reminder

Time is running out. Service Day is Thursday, May 12. As of last count, the United Way still has over 100 community service projects that could use your help on that day.

As a reminder, the Center for Service Learning is working in conjunction with the United Way to create ‘Service Day’ for the MCC Community. On Thursday, May 12 the United Way is hosting their annual ‘Day of Caring’ event, where members of the Rochester community are encouraged to participate in a community service project with any one of hundreds of community agencies that are asking for assistance on this day. The United Way is serving as a clearinghouse for project registration and sign-ups, and the MCC community is encouraged to participate, as able. Projects cover a large variety of areas at a multitude of community agencies.

On Thursday, May 12 the college is open and classes will be held as scheduled. However, the College supports those who would like to use their accrued personal time to volunteer with these agencies on this day. While there will need to be appropriate coverage of all offices, the College encourages departments to afford employees the opportunity to participate when possible. Students who do not have classes during project times are also encouraged to participate.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to join us on May 12 by volunteering with any of the community organizations listed. To do so, please use the link below to browse projects and register for the event, and please indicate MCC in the ‘Team Name’ field.
