News 10NBC’s Nikki Rudd interviewed the MCC Foundation’s Mark Pastorella, director of alumni and planned giving, and Dick Ottalagana, chair of the PAC Center (field house) campaign, on "Rochester in Focus" (April 22). Pastorella and Ottalagana teamed up to encourage our community to contribute towards the Chesonis Family Foundation’s $1.5 million Challenge.

In January, Arunas Chesonis, chairman and CEO of PAETEC Communicatio
ns and honorary chair of the campaign, and his family announced that their foundation would match gifts to the PAC Center campaign up to $1.5 million. To date, approximately $500,000 in private and corporate gifts will matched by the challenge.

The MCC Foundation is working to raise $6 million in private funds to match a $6 million grant from New York state to build the PAC. When completed, the PAC Center will be a 53,000 square-foot facility, featuring a synthetic-turf, multi-purpose field, weight training and human performance lab, jogging track, locker rooms, coach’s offices and a training room. The facility will be connected to the current Stabins Physical Education Complex (Building 10) and provide expanded space for physical education classes, sports teams, intramural and recreational leagues and individual fitness use.

In the months ahead, the MCC Foundation will communicate more about the campaign with the college community. In the meantime, to participate in the PAC Challenge, please contact the MCC Foundation at x1500 or visit www.monroecc.edu/go/foundation
