Federal Work Study information for the 2007-08 academic year

As you all know, the academic year 2006-07 is nearing an end; therefore, federal work study students' last day to work will be May 24, 2007.  This means that timesheets for federal work study should be submitted by May 23, 2007 for the pay period of May 11-24.

If you are interested in employing a federal work study student for the summer (May 29, 2007), these are the criteria that a student must meet in order to be considered:

·  Must have completed the filing requirements of the Financial Aid Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2007-08 and results must be at MCC Financial Aid Office

·  Must be registered at least 6 semester credit hours for summer or fall 2007.

·  Must be academically eligible.

Also, the supervisor must complete a 2007-08 Work Study Hiring Authorization which has to be approved by the Financial Aid Office and sent to Human Resources before a student can be “authorized” to work.

In addition, before a student begins working for you, please remind the student to check with Human Resources to ensure that their W2 information is complete in order to get paid.  During the summer, students can work up to 35 hours per week, providing approval by the department supervisor, with paychecks being issued bi-weekly.

If you are interested in a student working for you, feel free to contact me at Ext: 2317 or e-mail and I will let you know if student has met all requirements to be considered.
