National Alternative Fuel Vehicles Day Odyssey


Genesee Region Clean Communities, Inc. (GRCC) announced its sponsorship of an Odyssey Day 2010-National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day event, in partnership with Monroe Community College Applied Technologies Center. This event will be held on Friday October 15, 2010 from 12-4 p.m. at the Monroe Community College Applied Technologies Center, 2485 West Henrietta Rd. Rochester, NY 14623.

Odyssey Day 2010-National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day is a nationwide biennial celebration conducted to promote the use of alternative fuel vehicles and to educate the public on the importance of alternative fuel vehicles and advanced technology vehicles. 

This program, coordinated nationally by the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium with support from the U.S. Department of Energy(DOE) Clean Cities Program and Advanced Electric Drive Vehicle Education Program, will have more than 125 participating sites across the country.  

David Keefe, local GRCC Coordinator, stated that “We are convinced that alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles are the future for our country, and we feel Odyssey will help us inform the public of what is available now and what the future may hold, so they can start to make plans for adopting alternative transportation.” 

The local event will feature a wide variety of alternative fuel vehicles including hybrid electric (HEV) trucks and cars; plug in hybrid cars (PHEV); electric vehicles (EV);hydrogen fuel cell cars, propane trucks and school buses ; compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles; a hybrid electric tow truck and a zero-turn propane lawnmower.

In addition, there will be dealer representatives for alternative fuel trucks and cars as well as alternative fuel providers for alternative fuels such as biodiesel, E85 and propane.  

This event is open and free to the public. Refreshments will be served.
