Short-Fiction Writer Toni Jensen Coming to MCC

Short-fiction writer Toni Jensen will read from her work on Thursday, March 24, in the Forum, at 7 p.m., and she will lead a workshop on Friday, March 25, in 8-200, at 12 p.m.

Jensen is métis and is from the Midwest. Her story collection, From the Hilltop, was published through the Native Storiers Series at the University of Nebraska Press in 2010. Sandra Cisneros says of the collection, “This is a portrait of America told with truth and love, tales at once funny as they are tragic. Toni Jensen writes from her heart.” Stephen Graham Jones writes, “At first you’ll wish you had written these stories yourself…. This is an important debut, one that stays with you. Expect more from [Jensen].” Jensen’s stories have been anthologized in New Stories from the South and Best of the Southwest. She teaches creative writing at Penn State University.

This event is sponsored by Creative Arts.
