Protect Your Identity

Due to an overwhelming response of the first Identity Theft seminar offered last Fall, we are offering a Spring 2006 seminar. This seminar explores the various elements of identity theft, a crime involving the impersonation of a victim for the purpose of financial gain or other personal gain.

WHEN: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006

WHERE: Public Safety Training Facility, 1190 Scottsville Road, Room 105

Topics for discussion include determining risk, what to do if you become a victim, managing passwords, covering your Internet footprints, identifying risky behavior, configuring a firewall, and protecting your computer from hackers.

The seminar is designed for educators, crime prevention officers, professionals in area businesses and nonprofit organizations, and concerned individuals.

The cost of this seminar is $99.00 and open to the first 25 participants. Visit https://www.monroecc.edu/depts/hsmi/courses.htm to download a mail-in registration form or call us at 585.279-4221, for additional information or to reserve a seat.
