Is the Fulbright program for you?  Come and find out!  Open to faculty, staff and students.

MCC Study Abroad in Salamanca.
Presented by Scott M. Vrooman.
Room 9A-108.
MCC has just established a yearly Study Abroad program to Salamanca, Spain.  During four weeks in the summer, students study Spanish 20 hours per week, they stay with host families, and they discover why the university town of Salamanca is called the "Golden City."  Participants of the 2004 program will be on hand to relate their experiences.

The Language of the Brush: Origins of Modern Chinese.
Presented by Jasmine Tang.
Room 9A-106.
Professor Tang will talk about the Chinese characters which, although still popular today, represent one of the most ancient writing systems in the world. Participants in this workshop will recognize the Chinese characters from the pictograph and will come to understand the development of the character's style from historic times to today.

What's Buddha Doing in the Cornfields?:  Mapping Religious Diversity in the Rochester Area.
Presented by David Day.
Room 9-264.
Photography, interviewing skills, teamwork and adventure are just some of the things our anthropology students learn thanks to MCC's first-ever grant from Harvard University.  The grant focusses on the visual documentation of faiths "new" to the Rochester area.  Professor Day will demonstrate how anthropology students explore the religious and spiritual aspects of cultural diversity in their own backyards.
