Audioconference "Foundations as Funding Sources for Distance Learning"

Presenter: Arlene Krebs, New Orbit Communications

Arlene Krebs will review the grant funding programs and application procedures for several major foundations that support distance education. Arlene has worked in the distance learning environment for more than 20 years--from satellite-based distribution, to two-way interactive videoconferencing, to today's online courses. Arlene has written four editions of "The Distance Learning Funding Sourcebook: A Guide to Foundation, Corporate & Government Support for Telecommunications & the New Media."

Learn about a faculty training course from the University of Central Florida (UCF) that enrolls faculty as "students," and uses the same asynchronous online environment the future instructors will use to teach their distance learning students.

Faculty participants complete course modules to learn about UCF's online course development process and collaborate with peers and facilitators using distributed learning technologies. The UCF program includes online and face-to-face components.
