New Web Content Management System Preview

College leadership has chosen TYPO3, a web content management system, for use at MCC. A content management system (CMS) is a program that allows for editing and maintaining web content from a centralized interface.

A pilot group of representative departments has been selected to migrate to TYPO3 at the end of the spring semester. The process will involve a temporary ‘freeze’ on changes to the departmental pages to be migrated while the web development team transfers the structure and content of the pages to the new CMS.  Whether a page is in TYPO3 or not will be undiscernible to someone viewing our web pages.  The difference will be the interface that liaisons use to update content.  TYPO3 offers a web-based editing interface that is simple and easy to use.

An overview will be given on Tuesday, May 13th from Noon-1pm in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center (Empire Room) for department chairs and web liaisons.  Other individuals interested in attending should email Ann Penwarden at "mailto:apenwarden@monroecc.edu".  Initial training will be offered to the pilot departments in June and to other liaisons as space allows.  Watch the Tribune for further updates!
