Fifth Annual Scone Bakeoff Held; Perry Reclaims Title

On Tuesday, Feb. 19th, Anne Perry, Academic Services, reclaimed her title as winner in the 5th Annual Third Floor, Spina Administration Building Scone Bake-Off. Scone bakers included: Michele Bartell, Hospitality; Jeff Bartkovich, ETS; Gerry Brinkman, Hospitality; Keisha Burton, student aide, Human Resources (Keisha is the first student ever to participate); Tammy Dicks, Human Resources; Janet Ekis, College and Community Relations; Patty Giblin, ETS; Connie Herrera, Marketing; Gale LePore, Academic Services; Barb O’Connell, Human Resources; and Bill Wagoner, ETS.

Judges Diana Rayner, Mike McDonough, Bette Bovenzi, Dawn Quatro and Jean Heinsler voted Perry’s maple pecan scone the winning entry this year. What was Perry’s reaction to her second win in five years? “I think I should probably retire,” she says. Meanwhile, MCC’s most ardent scone connoisseurs are really hoping that Perry will continue to set the baking bar high.

Proceeds from ticket sales to the scone and tea tasting event – a total of $340 – was given to Bette Bovenzi for the MCC Peer Mentor’s school supply collection for Hillside Children’s Center.
