Feedback from last year’s Budget Resource Committee was clear: the committee needed more faculty input. This year’s Budget Resource Committee (BRC) has added three faculty members from Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services.
Cathryn Smith, English professor and chair of the English/Philosophy Department, and Darrell Jachim-Moore, assistant vice president, Administrative Services, who will serve as co-chairs, make the BRC a truly joint committee.
The BRC has two key thrusts that will guide the committee’s work this coming year:
1. Budget/Resource Allocation
2. Integration with MCC’s Strategic Plan
This year’s work will begin with the goal of increasing the rate of full-time, first-time students who complete degrees or certificates to 30 percent by 2015. In addition to making recommendations regarding resource allocation, the BRC will also be responsible for making specific suggestions for constructive change.
The Budget Resource Committee held their kick-off meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The Committee is scheduled to present its recommendations to President Kress and her team in mid-December.
