Students Compete at Regional Level to Retain the Brains

On April 14, Monroe Community College students Lomax Campbell, Sandra Chapparo, Eric Franklin and Wayne Ramsdell presented their ideas on how to "stop the brain drain" in Rocheser during the 2005 Retain the Brains Competition. Even though the team watched as four students from Roberts Wesleyan College won this year's event, Shonda Ranson, 2005 chapter president of the Greater Rochester Jaycees, commented, "The MCC team was really wonderful and there were a lot of compliments heard from those who attended and judged."

For the second year, MCC was the only community college to compete in the regional event. "We can all be very proud of them," said their professor and coach Carmen Powers, Business Administration and Economics.

The winning team received a summer internship at the Greater Rochester Visitors Assocation and a chance to integrate their marketing ideas into the "Rochester: Made For Living" campaign.
