Jazz up your nights with MCC’s 35th Annual Jazz Festival

"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But man, there's no boundary line to art.

                                                                -- Charlie "Bird" Parker, saxophonist

On Wednesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 8, Monroe Community College celebrates Rochester's rich tradition of American music through its annual concert series devoted to the genre of jazz.

The Bob Sneider Quartet performs at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in the MCC Theatre. Sneider, who is the jazz guitar teacher at the world-renowned Eastman School of Music, also is a composer. He toured with Grammy winner Chuck Mangione for four years and is a two-time recipient of Downbeat's "Outstanding Performance in Jazz" award. The MCC Jazz Combo, directed by John Nyerges, jazz pianist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and a MCC faculty member, will open for the Bob Sneider Quartet.

A local group of the area's most talented musicians, the band of sixteen members features several local high school music teachers and area college faculty members.
