News from MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees took the following actions at yesterday’s meeting:

1. Accepted the interim financial reports as of March 31, 2009 and April 30, 2009.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $10,000 as listed for the months of March and April 2009.

3. Approved the operating budget for the fiscal year Sept. 1, 2009 through Aug. 31, 2010 in the amount of $117,437,700.*

4. Approved the schedule of tuition and fees for the fiscal year Sept. 1, 2009 through Aug. 31, 2010. (The schedule does not include a change in tuition.)*

5. Approved an identity theft prevention program, as required by the Federal Trade Commission.

6. Approved an associate in science degree in Human Services.

7. Approved a whistleblower policy.

8. Amended the start date of Dr. Anne M. Kress from July 6 to June 22.

9. Passed a resolution honoring student trustee Devin M. Lynch for his service on the board.


10. Passed a resolution expressing appreciation to Dr. Larry W. Tyree for his service and leadership over the past year.

11. Passed a resolution encouraging Rochester City Council to grant all necessary approvals to permit construction of MCC's new downtown campus to proceed.

Board members also heard a presentation from President Emeritus R. Thomas Flynn updating the Renaissance Square project, discussed the idea of naming the MCC Child Care Center for the late Board Chair Richard M. Guon; and were informed by MCC Interim President Larry W. Tyree that, effective Sept. 1, 2009, the College will take over responsibility from Wilmorite for security at the Damon City Campus.


Faculty Senate President Terri Tugel shared with the board a resolution passed by the Faculty Senate last week proclaiming the Senate's restored confidence in the board. Multiple board members expressed their appreciation to the Senate for the resolution.


*The MCC 2009-2010 operating budget this summer goes before the Monroe County Legislature for consideration.
