News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting

The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center on the Brighton Campus on Monday, April 9, 2018 and took the following actions:

1. Accepted the Interim Financial Report as of February 28, 2018.

2. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 as listed for the month of February 2018.

3. Authorized Ronald Ricotta, Chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, or Barbara Lovenheim, Chair of the Board of Trustees, to approve budget transfers on behalf of the Board of Trustees through the end of the budget year August 31, 2018

4. Adopted the "Surplus Property Policy" effective April 9, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

5. Adopted the "Procurement Policy" effective April 9, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

6. Approved the appointment of Department Chairs for the Academic Year 2018-19 as indicated, each to receive an annual stipend in accordance with provisions of the current agreement with the Faculty Association.

7. Adjusted the 2018/19 base annual salaries in accordance with Article 47 of the current contractual agreement with the Faculty Association for three members; adjusted salaries effective September 1, 2018.

8. Approved the phased-in retirement for the following individual in accordance with Article 27 Section E of the contractual agreement between Monroe Community College and the Faculty Association: Jean Parker, Academic Support Services as of 06/2021.

9. Adopted the "Nepotism Policy" effective April 9, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

10. Adopted the "Consensual Relationships Policy" effective April 9, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

11. Adopted the "Animals at the College Policy" effective April 9, 2018. The policy will be included on the policy web page.

12. Conducted an Executive Session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105, subsection (e): collective negotiations pursuant to Article 14 of the Civil Service Law, subsection (f): the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation.

13. Approved a Resolution congratulating the Monroe Community College Tribunes women's basketball team and Head Coach Tim Parrinello on their accomplishments during the 2018 national-title winning season.

14. Approved a Resolution honoring the memory of the Honorable Louise M. Slaughter--a longtime Monroe County resident, champion of education, and inspiring role model for a new generation of leaders--for her unequalled leadership and vision, her distinguished record of public service, and her extraordinary dedication to MCC and to hundreds of thousands of MCC students.

The Board heard presentations from

  • President Anne M. Kress on Strategic Plan Direction Four: Organizational Culture;
  • Shared Governance groups (Amanda Colosimo for Faculty Senate; Alec Waight-Morabito for SGA; and Daniel Skerritt for SEGA); and
  • MCC Foundation Executive Director Gretchen Wood on Foundation activities.

Prior to the Board meeting, a budget workshop was held.
