Cucci Remembered Through His Carillon

Professor Emeritus of Chemistry Myron Cucci will be remembered Wednesday, Oct.
23, with special music played from the carillon he made possible.

"We could not think of a more appropriate day [to remember Myron] than Oct. 23
which is National Mole* Day and falls during National Chemistry Week," said
Chemistry/Geosciences Department Chair John Cullen. A D-Day veteran, Myron was
very patriotic so the carillon will play patriotic music in his memory on the
hour, every hour, all day Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Myron died Oct. 4. He was the founding chair of MCC's Chemistry Department and
worked at the College until 1985.

A fan of the carillons at Cornell University and the University of Rochester,
where he was a student, Myron brought the carillon to MCC in 1986 in memory of
his friend and colleague James Walsh who passed away that year.

Please remember Myron when you hear the patriotic music on Wednesday, Oct. 23.

*A mole is a unit of chemistry.
