MCC Alumni Contributing to the Community


In celebration of the contributions Monroe Community College alumni have made to the community, MCC Interim President Dr. Larry W. Tyree will host a very special reception, “Giving Back, Moving Forward—MCC Alumni Contributing to the Community,” on Monday, October 20, 2008, 4 – 6 p.m., in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center, Monroe B. 

The 15 alumni honorees are: 

Nancy J. Adams ’86 Executive Director, Monroe County Medical Society;

José Cruz ’93 Monroe County Legislator and NET Administrator, Area B-Sector 3;

Nancy Duff ’76 Director, Sweden Senior Center;

Shawn Dunwoody ’01 Artist;

Ronald K. Fox ’84 Executive Director, Open Door Mission;

Lisa Maynard ’00 Executive Director, Adoption Resource Network;

George Moses ’01 Community Development Director, North East Area Development, Inc.;

Mark O’Donnell ’89 Trooper/Public Information Officer, New York State Police;

Mark Preston ’96 Senior Technical Assistant, Office of Services for Students with Disabilities, Monroe Community College;

Bob Russell ’83 Executive Director, The Little Theatre Film Society;

Nancy Sawyer-Molina ’80 Founder, Coffee Connection;

Deborah C. Stamps, MS, RN, GNP, CAN, BC ’97 Director of Nursing:  Emergency Services, Women’s and Neonatal Health & Radiology, Rochester General Hospital;

Mary Tantillo, PhD, RN, CS ’80 Director, Western New York Comprehensive Care Center for Eating Disorders;

Mary Innes Wagner ’70 Credit Analyst, Cooper Vision;

Janet Zinck ’87 Coordinator, Cooperative Education Department and Assistant Professor of Hospitality, Monroe Community College. 

“These alumni give generously of themselves to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” says Tyree.  “They exemplify the thousands of MCC graduates who are living, working and contributing in this community.  We applaud these outstanding honorees for the selfless way they give back. Truly, there is no better evidence of the impact of this college than our alumni who are making a difference every day.”       

“Giving Back.  Moving Forward—MCC Alumni Contributing to the Community” is part of the college’s effort to create greater awareness of the college’s impact on the community. The reception will feature a display highlighting each honoree and his/her achievements and contributions.  The display will travel throughout the community to different venues during the coming year.
