SATELLITE SEMINAR #3 Tuesday October 22, 2002 7:30-8:30 pm Topic:
Emerging Infectious Diseases Dr. Gail Hughes is Assistant Professor
in the Department of Preventative Medicine-Epidemiology at the University of
Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She has extensive
experience in public health care, community health and health education, and
has taught and served as a health consultant in California and Mississippi.
Dr. Hughes has developed community health programs and clinics in South
America, India, South Africa and Cuba. She has been especially involved with
women's health and minority health issues. Dr. Hughes has spoken and presented
studies at many national and international conferences, including the 6th
International Conference on AIDS. She received her doctorate in public health,
with epidemiology-maternal and child health specialty from the University of
California School of Public Health at Berkeley.

The event will begin at 7:00 pm with refreshments and an introduction in Room
3-172.
