Sports Hall of Fame Dinner

On Friday, January 28, 2005 Monroe Community College will host its 21st annual Sports Hall of Fame dinner. This year the Athletic Department will induct Rina (Geil) Callaghan (Rochester, N.Y.), Victor Latiuk (Pittsford, N.Y.), Aaron Morrison (Cornelius, N.C.), Laura (Peel) Dissington (Sarasota, Fla), and Dr. Jeffrey Bartkovich (Pittsford, N.Y.).

Callaghan will be recognized as a former member of the women’s national championship soccer team. She was a team captain and two-time NJCAA All-American.

Latiuk, a former men’s soccer player, was an All-American and a member of the program's first national championship team in 1965.

Dissington, a former member of the women’s swim team, is being recognized for being a national champion, breaking a national record in the 50 freestyle, and earning All-American honors.

Morrison is being recognized for leading his basketball team to the program's second best overall record while also being the team captain and a two-time NJCAA All Region honoree.

Dr. Jeffrey Bartkovich, vice president of Educational Technology Services at Monroe Community College, will receive a special award for his continued support of MCC athletics. Dr. Bartkovich shows his dedication attending many MCC athletic teams' home and away games.

The 1971 men’s soccer team will be honored as this year’s Team of the Past. The team finished the 1971 season with a record of 17-1 as Region III champions. Their only loss that year was in the national finals where the Tribunes were defeated by St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley.

This year’s event will begin with cocktails at 5:30 pm with dinner following at 6:30 pm. Tickets for the event will be on sale at the MCC Campus Center Information and Services Desk for $18 per person. For more information, please contact Lisa LaDolce MCC Athletics, at 585-292-2830.
