Invitation to Present at "Scholarship Is a Conversation," an Information Literacy Event

In conjunction with the pending release of the new Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, the MCC Libraries are sponsoring “Scholarship Is a Conversation,” a 2.5-hour event on March 12, 2015 from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in Room 2-423 of the LeRoy V. Good Library. The event will feature faculty members’ lightning talks (very brief presentations, usually 5-10 minutes in length) on information literacy in the disciplines, based on concepts introduced in the new framework, followed by discussion and refreshments.

We would welcome your presentation about one or more of the concepts in the framework as it relates to your discipline. Please join us in this conversation about what information literacy means in various fields and how we all can help students develop critical thinking skills to support lifelong learning. We want to hear about your perspective! Please let Andrea Kingston (
akingston4@monroecc.edu), Deb Mohr (dmohr@monroecc.edu), or Alice Wilson (awilson@monroecc.edu) know by February 9, 2015, if you plan to present a short lightning talk. Want to participate but aren’t sure about a topic? Let’s discuss it!

Information about the event and the new information literacy framework is available at
