CitiGrant Awarded to MCC Child Care Center

Representatives of Citibank presented a $2,000 CitiGrant to the Monroe Community College Child Care Center on Oct. 29, 2003. Kathy Klocek, Citibank Upstate community relations assistant; Timothy Hutton, financial center operations manager; and Tara Joyce, client financial analyst; presented the check to Audrey Abbondanzieri, director, MCC Child Care Center; and Diane Shoger, director, development and major gifts, MCC Foundation.

Hutton submitted the application for the grant. His son, Harrison, attends the MCC Child Care Center and his wife, Cindy, is an adjunct professor in the college’s Visual and Performing Arts Department.

“I knew MCC and some of its students were going to feel the effects of recent budget cuts,” said Hutton. “The grant will help a deserving student cover the costs of child care while he or she attends classes during their final semester at MCC.” Hutton also noted that Citibank sponsored a children’s art festival at MCC in May of this year.

The Citigroup Foundation gives grants focused in three main areas: financial education, educating the next generation and building community and entrepreneurs. Over the last three years, the Foundation’s international grantmaking increased steadily, from $8.09 million in 2000 to $14.3 million in 2002.
