An Important Message about MCC's Emergency Alert System

Please be aware that the voice messaging capability of emergency communication systems like NY Alert is currently not operational in area code 585 due to recent upgrades within the telephone carrier system that are proving incompatible with the emergency systems. Telephone carriers (e.g. Verizon, Frontier, Sprint, AT&T, etc.) are working on the problem and anticipate resolving this issue soon.

Consequently, if you are signed up to receive emergency voice alerts (i.e. a phone call) via NY Alert, these messages will not reach you for the time being. We will let you know when the system is back in operation.

The NY Alert text messaging service is not impacted and remains operational.

You can change your emergency alert preferences in the Personal Information tab in Banner. Sign on via MyMCC.

Please note: text messages are delivered much more quickly than voice messages. This is simply a function of the different technologies. If you have the ability to receive text messages, you are encouraged to sign up to receive emergency alerts via text messaging.
