Residence Life and Housing Now Accepting RA Applications

BE TRANSFORMED: BE AN RA

The Housing and Residence Life Office is currently accepting Resident Assistant Applications for the 2008-2009 academic year.  We are asking MCC faculty and staff to assist us in our recruitment efforts.

Please review the attached RA job description for more information about the position.  If you know of an MCC student that might be a good fit for the RA role, please encourage that student to apply by doing one of the following:

Send the student to the Housing & Residence Life office (1-108) to pick up an application.

Contact the Res Life team with the student’s information.  The Res Life team will then invite the student to apply, noting that they have been identified by an MCC faculty or staff member as someone who may have the potential to excel as an RA.  Please email us at <<mailto:residencehalls@monroecc.edu>> with the student’s name and M number (if possible).

In order to be eligible for the position, all candidates must submit an application, attend an info session, and attend group process.  Info sessions are hosted by current RAs so that applicants can be provided with information and ask questions of students who are doing the job.  This is an excellent opportunity to find out what the position is like from someone who lives it.  Applicants will also be required to attend Group Process.  During Group Process, applicants will go through a series of activities to observe communication, teamwork and leadership styles, skills and etc.  Applicants are encouraged to be themselves so that the best decisions regarding selection and placement can be made.

The RA position is an incredible student leadership opportunity.  It comes with great responsibility and great reward.  The skills that RAs will learn will be an asset to them as an RA and in their life beyond the position.

There will be several information sessions for all prospective RAs and it is mandatory to attend one in order to be considered for the position.  The dates and times of the info sessions are as follows:

Monday 2/25: 12-1PM in Spina Administration Building, Room 108

Monday 2/25: 5-6PM in Pioneer Hall

Tuesday 2/26: 8-9PM in Canal Hall
